Sport air filters, how they work!
The mode of combustion of the engine is dependent on the volume of aspirated air. Amount of the fuel that is injected into the engine is primary affected by the amount of the air. The more air the engine sucks, the more fuel is available to the engine so it is obviously more powerful. That is why there have been developed special sport filters that allow air absorbing up to 40%.
The composition and structure of sport filter
Sport filter consists of folded cotton and steel grating. Cotton ensures increased throughput of the intake air. Steel mesh keeps the shape of the sport filter in accordance with DIN ISO 9001 and captures bigger contaminants: insects, leaves or stones. The grid is molded together with cotton to the rubber, which ensures the sealing of the engine intake.

What does sport filter – insert mean?
An insert is a sport air filter, which is already adapted by the manufacturer to the type of the engine. The assembly consists solely of exchanging the original air filter for a sport filter. Filter maintenance interval is 15,000 km. Sport filter provides improved performance of the engine by 3%.
What does sport filter – kit mean?
Kits are available for selected types of engines where it is technically possible to mount the sports filter. To reduce the suction path and eliminate turbulence it is usually installed directly on the measuring unit of the intake air quantity. Sport Filter - Kit provides a performance boost depending on the type and capacity of the engine by 5-7%. Filter maintenance interval is 20,000 km. Assembly time is up to 30 minutes. Sport filter comes with instructions and fittings.
Sport air filters, cleaning process
- Remove sport filter from the car.
- Scull down the dirt or clean it with brush.
- According to the manufacturer's instructions prepare solution diluted wit water. Plunge a filter in the solution prepared in the container of adequate size.
- Let the cleaning solution work for about 20 minutes.
- Remove sport filter from the solution and wash out the dirt under the water.
Let the filter dry.- Apply the filter oil spray recommended by the manufacturer, which is part of the cleaning kit.
The color of the filter must be the same as the color of the oil. - Let the oil dry for 2 hours and mount the sport filter back in the car.
